New Year Resoultion

Since I am horrible and I confess HORRIBLE at blogging my new year resolution is to blog more at least once a month. I guess my biggest problem with blogging is that I never think anyone reads my blog, and nobody really cares what is going on in my life, because well lets face it a newly wed couple isn't really that interesting, right? Well I've decided to overcome that silly problem of mine and blog anyways, because the first years of marriage are priceless, and I want to always remember the fun times and even the hard because it helps me reflect on the purpose of life and how precious memories truly are. Here are some wonderful memories that I've had lately that I would like to share. Please forgive me for the slow update. I have been ignoring the need to blog due to my husband leaving for basic training in 19 days, and the fact that I have been spending every possible moment by his side!

For Thanksgiving we celebrated the day with Garret ts family, we had a blast and I wanted to show some pictures of our wonderful time :)

When my in laws asked me to make something for Thanksgiving dinner, I got extremely nervous, lets face it, I can barley make chocolate chip cookies out of a package and somehow I still mess them up. So my side kick, a.k.a Garrett who is my assistant in the kitchen helped me along the way, because honestly, who wants gross sweet potatoes on Thanksgiving day? Thanks to his wonderful help the sweet potatoes were delish and to die for!

Look at these adorable turkey cookies, that my sister in law Audrey had all the grand kids make for the Thanksgiving holiday, I love how the turkey tail is made of candy corn and the gobbler is made out of a crasin. So cute!!!

Before Garrett and I got married, I only had a niece and a nephew, who I just adore to pieces. Because we were so busy planning the wedding and moved down to AZ right after, I never really got to know my new nieces and nephews all that well. But now since we have visited Utah several times this year, I have had the opportunity to get to know them more. And I now have 5 nieces and 3 nephews that I just adore to pieces. I wish that I could of got all of them in a picture, but they were all to busy playing! Luckily, I got this great picture of them all sticking their tongues out at me. Hopefully, they were all just being silly, and that's not how they feel about me! lol

I love this picture because I really got to know Garrett's nieces more this trip. I just think that their adorable and it was fun getting ready in the same bathroom as them.

Thanks Gabbitas family, for making Thanksgiving a great day, I'm looking forward to many more!!!

One family down now it's my turn!!!

I can't believe how fast these babies are growing up. My family always teases me that Cole will be taller than Aunt Tami soon. Sadly, I think that it might be to soon.

On our last day in Utah my dad had all the family over for dinner. Garrett's parents came to and they brought early Christmas gifts, because they are going to Hawaii for the Holidays and won't be around. So Garrett got Money and some beef jerky!! Thanks mom and dad Gabbitas

This pictures is me opening what mom & dad Gabbitas gave me. Since Kamree and Cole love opening presents, I let them help. When the present was all UN-wrapped Cole shouted, Tami you got a coffee maker! It was so funny, because I got a pressure cooker not a coffee maker, but he thought different. I guess the saying that kids say the darnest things, is so true!

Aunt Tami and Kamree. Oh I just love this girl, she is so funny! This picture was taken while she was laying on my dads bed watching little Einsteins, I must add that it was very difficult to get that girls attention off of the TV, but when I did, she was little miss photogenic!

Kam-Kam, A.K.A LITTLE MISS PHOTOGENTIC!

It's Christmas Time!!!

Garrett and I had a wonderful Christmas together, one way we got in the Holiday spirit was volunteering Garrett to be Santa at my work Christmas party. The night before the big event, Garrett tried on the Santa suit to make sure that it fit. Once he was all dressed up, pillow in the tummy and all, he officially looked like Santa. So we decided to go has some fun. We did several house visits one night. The first visit we stopped by my cousins house. Three little kids were filled with Christmas joy, as they woke up to see Santa in their bed room. I believe that this Santa motive, really helped the oldest be better in school and not cause so much trouble at home. As far as the youngest two, they couldn't believe that Santa actually came to their house, and were talking about it for days!

Our second visit was a little more funny, we decided to stop by my mom's house around 9:30 P.M. Santa knocked on her window and scared her to death, by saying Ms. Pamela Settler, "have you been a good girl this year?" Mother got a little frightened as she looked out the window to see Santa outside. But right when she was almost ready to call the cops, I lost it and my laughter was so loud that she knew I was us playing a trick on her.

We had lots of fun having Garrett dress up as santa. Even when he did for my work! One little boy told him that he wanted Netflix for Christmas. And Santa's reply was, "ho ho, Santa has Netflix." Fun times, great memories and a Christmas I will never forget!!!

I know Santa is real because he brought me everything I asked for when I sat on his lap and told him my Christmas list ;) Who knew that Santa could be such a good listener!!!

Stay tuned for our first Christmas together and all the fun involved!

Life goes by so fast

First of all I must admit that I'm really bad at this blog thing, because I hardly never update it, but it's not because I don't want to, it's because I have so much going on with school and work. Right now I'm just one busy girl! Let me fill you in on what has been happening these past few months since my last post.

August: Garrett enlisted in the Military, he will be leaving for basic training in January and he will be gone for about 5 months. You must be thinking how did this come about? Well we kept feeling it was the right choice, so we prayed about it, went to the temple and know it's the best choice for our family right now. And on the flip side, Garrett found a job until he leaves. He works for a pest control company, he is there salesman and goes around passing flyer's to promote the business, but also goes to all these out to lunch job meetings. Which I must confess, free lunch all the time, what a great deal! However; personally, I don't like bugs and don't want to deal with them. So I 'm glad he gets to do the dirty work and it's not me!

September: We had the opportunity to go up to Utah for Chase's farewell (Garrett's youngest brother). It was so much fun! We loved visiting with friends and family, and for me it was nice because I felt like I got to know my new nieces and nephews more. Also, it was so great to gain stronger relationships with my in-laws. And of course I loved seeing my family too, it was so nice of my dad and Debbie to put together a dinner for Garrett and I. Thanks to my wonderful friends who dropped there plans to go to a concert to come see me, you'll never understand how much that meant! We enjoyed seeing the mountains and all the green and especially going to Cole's soccer game and not dying of heat. The weather was just perfect! I must say that we loved every minute of our vacation. I even made the comment right before we were leaving for the airport that if our flight got canceled or delayed I really wouldn't mind staying.(LoL) To bad it didn't happen and reality set back in. September was also the first time Garrett and I spent a weekend apart, I went to St. George with my mom to go see Ryan and Kim. I missed Garrett alot, but I was able to spend quality time with Kamree and Cole and it was definitely needed.

October: Time really flies and sadly I feel like January will be here before I know it. Which I'm dreading, because that means that Garrett goes to boot camp! However; great things have happened this month that I must share. First to start this all out, we had a great conference weekend. It was so wonderful to hear all the talks and have goodies and lots of food in between. I must say, that I literally lived in the kitchen that weekend. It started out Friday night, by making Navajo tacos with homemade Navajo bread. Then early Saturday morning, I made homemade cinnamon rolls from scratch. YES, from scratch and they were yummy, yummy! For dinner Thai food, which I learned from my brother Ryan and his amazing wife Kimberlee. Sunday, scones and then I made a die for cake called, "darn good chocolate cake", which the name says all.... So now you understand what I mean when I say I "lived" in the kitchen.

So besides our fun conference weekend, we have went hiking, just a few weeks ago we hiked squaw peak and was able to see the whole valley. It was tough and very steep, but all worth it when we got to the top. I struggled towards the end, but my cute hubby was there to cheer me on even though I didn't have my happy face on. It just showed me that marriage is hard, but if we stick together we can get to the top and see beautiful ending. And that's how we kind of feel with the Army situation right now, we both now it will be hard at times, but in the end it will all be worth it. So to get to the good news, I will be graduating this December from MCC and will continue on with my bachelors in Early Childhood Education. I just got accepted to Ottawa University and will officially start my program in January. If all goes according to plan I will be finished in one year, (spring 2011) but that means alot of hard work in between. I'm very excited to finally be moving forward and seeing results, it's a great feeling of accomplishment.

Now that I've basically told you our whole life story for the last three months, I wanted to write about something that happened one year ago today, October the 14. Garrett and I became reunited and our lives together started. It was such a great day, even though I didn't see it coming nor did I think that he'd be the man I marry, but the moment I opened my front door to let him come inside, I knew that I couldn't let him go! Thanks Garrett for a great year together, your my best friend, my shoulder to cry on and the person I look forward to seeing everyday! Your the best hubby ever, Love u... Love T!

The BIG TWO TWO

So with Garrett loosing his job and everything the pocket book is pretty tight. Trying every motive to tell my husband that it's okay if we don't do anything for my birthday this year, even though it's my actual first with him and deep down inside It what I've been waiting for my whole life. I kept telling him that he didn't need to do anything. So I woke up July 28Th to my wonderful alarm clock, screaming at me to get up and go to work, even though any other birthday I would of taken off, but due to our circumstance and me the only one employed I worked 8 wonderful hours with babies all day and even got thrown up on. Then to my wonderful surprise when I got home from work, I had beautiful bouquet flowers on the table and a box of chocolates with a cute card from my honey. I was shocked and of course questioned money, but my sweet hubby told me to go shower up, because were going to dinner and not to worry about anything. I wasn't going to argue with that!

He took me to CPK, which is California Pizza Kitchen and bought me a massage. I was so surprised and thankful in a selfish way that he didn't listen and made my first birthday with him so special. My favorite thing he did for me was my birthday cake. He made a chocolate cake and used strawberries to make twenty two, very creative and yummy. A big thanks to my hubby, what a wonderful day it was for me. I look forward to many more birthday celebrations with you G!

WHEN IT RAINS IT POURS!!!

All I can say is this past summer has been really busy and because of that I have put our blog on the back burner. Lots of fun adventures have happened over this summer that we'd like to share. LIKE... we were able to have Garrett's parents come visit and do lots of fun things with them. It was so much fun going to slide rock and sleeping at their condo. And of course, visiting with them and getting to know them more! We also went on our very first camping trip together up in the Payson mountains. Garrett finally was able to use his hammock that he has been going on about since he got home from Honduras. And lastly, it was so nice getting away from the crazy world. Speaking of that crazy world, it was especially good to get away, because a few weeks ago Garrett got laid off. You know, just when you think you can't handle one more thing, you get a curve ball that throws your whole game out of "whack" But we both know that this is all apart of Gods plan for us, were growing so much closer and learning so much along the way. We feel a great deal of peace and comfort as we know that lord has something else for us in mind. We just have to discover it! And I think... CROSS YOUR FINGERS... were almost there :)

Our new get-a-way!!!

So with the gift cards that Garrett and I had left over from our wedding and since everything we need has been purchased. We both decided to take those extra cards and buy us something fun that we would both enjoy. It was mostly my idea, but I know Garrett enjoys it just as much as I do, possibly more! What we did was we bought a patio set that included cute pillows and lights to hang up outside. It's like our own little get a way. It's so perfect and with the lights lit up at night it provides such a calming and relaxing environment for both of us to enjoy together. It's been so much fun and it really gets its use since we live in Arizona and can use it all year round. Late night talks, yummy dinners and breakfast at 6am to watch the sunrise. What a wonderful thing to have to enjoy together. It's our new get-a-way and we love it and can't wait for more wonderful memories shared together out there!

Take me out to the ball game!

1-2-3 Strikes your out!

This past week has been so crazy, with finishing up finals and having family come into town. It's been so busy! And during the middle of all the ruckus Garrett and I got Diamond Back tickets from our good friends Kali and Bj. They were supposed to come down and see us that weekend, but other stuff came up and their plans canceled. So Garrett and I had two extra tickets up for grab. My aunt Heather and Uncle will Decided to take them and come join us for some fun. The game was lots of fun. We had really good seats right up above third base. This was the first, major league baseball game Garrett has ever been too. The boys were really into the game! However; Heather and I enjoyed talking about the Hills. I got a brief update of what's been going on this season, since we don't have cable. It was a fun night, the weather was perfect and the cold stone ice cream made everything perfect. Thanks Bj and Kali for choosing great seats, sorry you were not able to come. Maybe next time!

Mother's Day

This past Mother's day was the first Garrett and I have shared together. It was so fun and Garrett made it such a great experience for me. I have to brag because well Garrett was really cute and spoiled me by buying me pink tulips. If you know me, I am absolutely crazy about tulips. Anyways, you must be thinking, why did she get flowers when she's not even a mother. Believe me I was thinking those exact words, but when I asked him his reply was so sweet and priceless that I must share.

Tami: Garrett, why the flowers I'm not even a mother?

Garrett: Because you will one day be the mother to our future children and you take care of kids all day, whose mothers are working. So basically you deserve these flowers just as much as any mother out there :)

Tami: AHHH... Your sweet, Thanks! :)

What a great holiday it was and were both very thankful for our wonderful mothers. With my mother only being a few miles away, the family took her out Saturday night for a yummy steak dinner, and we gave her an ipod. Which she loved! For Garrett's mom, since she doesn't live near, Garrett talked to her and when she comes down in June, we have a present for her. Now I will share a few words for my mother and my new mother in law.

To my mom: Thank you for giving me life, because we both know it wasn't an easy process. I'm thankful for you strength to always keep going, no matter what ever trial your going through in life. You truly are an inspiration to me. Your a great mother and even better Grandma! I'm thankful for you in so many ways and I'm glad your my mom. Always remember I will love you forever and like you for always!

To my new mother in law: Thank you for raising a wonderful son, you did a job well done. You taught him to cook and because of that we don't starve! You taught him to read and helped him when he struggled. Because he was taught to read, he was able to read the Book of Mormon and gain a strong testimony. I thank you for that because it blesses my family. You demonstrated patience in your home and taught him to never swear or use harsh words and those are qualities that I love about him. Thank you for being such a good mom to him.. Your hard work paid off!!!!
